Educator
As a dance and theater educator, I am passionate about inspiring creativity, confidence, and self-expression through the performing arts. I believe every student has a unique voice and story to share, and I strive to create an inclusive, supportive environment where artists of all experience levels feel encouraged to grow, take risks, and discover their potential.
Teaching Philosophy
As an educator, my goal is to create a space where students feel empowered to take creative risks, develop their artistic voice, and engage deeply with the collaborative nature of performance. I view the classroom not only as a place to build technical skills, but as a rehearsal space for critical thinking, discipline, and self-discovery.
Drawing from my professional experience in the theater industry, I strive to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the realities of the field. I incorporate industry-based practices such as rehearsal etiquette, audition techniques, ensemble collaboration, and production processes into my teaching. By exposing students to these real-world expectations, I help them build both confidence and practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. This approach allows students to better understand the demands and rewards of a career in the performing arts while grounding their training in authenticity.
My teaching is fundamentally student-centered. I design lessons that encourage exploration, discussion, and reflection, allowing students to take an active role in their learning. Whether through performance projects, technical exercises, or scene work, I prioritize processes that invite students to make choices, analyze their work, and grow from feedback. I aim to cultivate an environment where every student feels seen, respected, and capable of contributing meaningfully to the creative process.
I am also deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom. Dance and theater require vulnerability, and I work to ensure that students feel safe to express themselves without fear of judgment. I recognize the diverse backgrounds and abilities students bring, and I adapt my teaching to meet a range of needs and learning styles. By building strong relationships and emphasizing mutual respect, I create a community where collaboration can thrive.
Assessment in my classroom focuses on growth, effort, and reflection as much as final performance. I use a combination of formative feedback, peer critique, and self-assessment to help students develop awareness of their progress. I encourage students to view mistakes as an essential part of the creative process and to approach challenges with resilience and curiosity.
As both an artist and educator, I am committed to ongoing growth. I continue to draw inspiration from my professional experiences while seeking new methods and experiences to engage and support my students. Ultimately, my goal is to prepare students not only as performers, but as thoughtful, adaptable individuals who can collaborate, communicate, and contribute creatively in any path they choose.
Classes and Workshops
Choreography/ Dance Composition Workshop
This workshop invites students to discover and develop their unique voice as dance makers and choreographers. Moving beyond performing “just steps”, participants will explore the creative process behind crafting meaningful, intentional movement while developing their own artistic perspective.
Designed for aspiring choreographers, dancers preparing composition projects or showcases, and students pursuing collegiate dance programs, this workshop provides a supportive environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and artistic confidence. Students will gain practical choreographic tools, creative strategies, and a deeper understanding of movement composition that they can continue to apply in future artistic endeavors.
Musical Theater Mock Audition Workshop
This workshop gives students the opportunity to experience a realistic musical theater audition in a supportive learning environment. Participants will complete a mock audition that includes a song, monologue or cold reading, and a dance call, allowing them to practice every stage of the audition process.
Designed for students preparing for production auditions, college auditions, summer intensives, or professional opportunities, this workshop helps performers strengthen their audition technique while gaining insight into their own creative process. Students will learn how to confidently present prepared material, quickly adapt to new choreography and direction, and perform under audition-style conditions.
Each participant will receive constructive, individualized feedback on their performance, professionalism, stage presence, and overall audition skills. The workshop also provides practical strategies for managing nerves, making a strong first impression, and approaching future auditions with greater confidence and preparation.
